Builder from Birmingham reaches final of Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2021

  • Lewis Curtis will take part in the virtual final of the prestigious award in September
  • The builder is hoping to be crowned this year’s winner
  • The winner will walk away with the coveted title and a trade bundle worth £20,000

A builder from Birmingham is celebrating after seeing off hundreds of other tradespeople to reach the final of the renowned Screwfix Top Tradesperson 2021 competition.

Lewis Curtis, 34, has been shortlisted and will join nine other worthy contestants from across the UK & Ireland to go head-to-head to win the coveted title.

With almost 20 years of experience as a builder, Lewis has been selected after demonstrating a real passion for the trade, showcasing his exceptional skills, drive, and determination to go above and beyond for his customers.

Having learnt the basics from his from his builder dad, Lewis joined his family business at a young age where he went on to quickly develop a wide-ranging skillset in all types of modern construction practice. Now, with a seat firmly at the helm of the family firm, he continues to drive innovation and ensure customer retention through his commitment to excellence.

The standard of the 10 finalists is incredibly high and Lewis, who owns Cubit Contracts LTD, will aim to impress a panel of judges with his examples of excellent workmanship and dedication to the trade during a two-day virtual final event in September.

The winner will be crowned during Screwfix LIVE and will take home the ultimate £20,000 prize bundle comprising of tech, tools, and training.  

Lewis, who is thrilled to have reached the final, says: “To reach the final is overwhelming and my dad is extremely proud of me, it’s thanks to him teaching me everything he knows, that I’m where I am today. I’ve always been trained to deliver excellence for my customers and that’s something I’m now passing on to my dedicated team. If I was lucky enough to win this competition, then it’ll be for me and dad – he’s an inspiration and I’ll be forever grateful.”

During the final, Lewis will face a panel of industry-leading judges including representatives from the NICEIC, CIPHE, FMB and 2019 winner, Darren McGhee.
