Colchester-based charity starts refurbishment after receiving a £4,660 grant from the Screwfix Foundation

Age Well East, based in Colchester, Essex, is celebrating after receiving £4,660 worth of funding from The Screwfix Foundation, the charity which supports not-for-profit organisations in need across the UK to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and facilities.

Age Well East empowers people in their later years via a variety of holistic services, specialising in Welfare and Advice, (providing support to access pension and health-related benefit entitlements, housing adaptions, and Blue Badge disabled parking permits), Befriending, Activity Groups, Dementia (including support for unpaid carers aged 50+), alongside Bereavement and Mental Wellbeing. Having friendly spaces is key to creating a welcoming environment for users to access wrap-around community support.

Tom Harrison, Interim CEO at Age Well East, comments: “On behalf of Age Well East, I wish to thank The Screwfix Foundation for their project support of £4,660 which will enable us to maintain and improve our property and community facilities to best meet the needs of our local community, at this crucial time.

Claire Flory, The Screwfix Foundation manager, says: “What Age Well East does is vital for the local community. The much-needed funding used for a general fixing and repairing of the building will be key in supporting the charity’s users. We are delighted to see that our donation has gone towards such an important project, for the benefit of those in need”.

Set up in 2013 after recognising the need to give back, The Screwfix Foundation has donated over £11m for good causes and helped over 2,400 local registered charities and not for profit organisations across the UK.
