Lewis-Manning Hospice Care gets a helping hand from The Screwfix Foundation

The charity Lewis-Manning Hospice Care , based in Poole, is celebrating after being awarded £3,200 worth of funding from The Screwfix Foundation, a charity which supports projects to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and facilities for those in need.

Clare Gallie, Chief Executive at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care comments: “We are very grateful to The Screwfix Foundation for donating these much-needed funds to support our charity. Lewis-Manning Hospice Care was established 29 years ago, and provides care to patients and their families across East Dorset and Purbeck, who are living with a life-limiting illness.

“The funding contributed to the cost of the bathroom fittings in our new Personal Care Room and Wet Room at our refurbished premises, Longfleet House in central Poole. The donation will make such a difference to the people who visit our day hospice as they will have the opportunity to take a shower in a safe environment which is so important to our patients. On behalf of all the staff and patients, we’d like to thank everyone at The Screwfix Foundation who was involved in the fundraising – it’s been a great help to us.”

Steve Dunston, Screwfix Foundation Trustee said: “Supporting charities such as Lewis-Manning Hospice Care with much-needed funding to help fix, repair, maintain and improve their facilities is vital. It’s great to see this donation go toward such an important project that benefits those in need.”

The Screwfix Foundation, which launched in April 2013 donates much needed funding to help a variety of local projects throughout the UK, from repairing buildings and improving community facilities, to improving the homes of people living with sickness or disability.

It also works closely with Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as supporting smaller, local registered charities like Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
