Putney based charity gets a helping hand from the Screwfix Foundation
The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) based in Putney, is celebrating after being awarded £3,000 worth of funding from The Screwfix Foundation, a charity which supports projects to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and facilities for those in need.
Trudi Brown from The RHN comments: “The funding will allow us to install air conditioning in the Jack Emerson Centre, a 16 bed unit for patients on ventilators who cannot breathe un-assisted. This means that we can provide a comfortable environment for our service users and their families. We’d like to thank everyone at Screwfix who was involved in the fundraising and volunteering– it’s a great help to our patients.”
Peter Cutis, Screwfix Area Manager for the South comments: “We’re really pleased that one of our local charities has been awarded funding by The Screwfix Foundation. Staff from our store have been involved in fundraising to raise vital funds, so it’s fantastic to see the money we have raised being invested back into such a worthwhile community project. My team and I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day volunteering here at The RHN; it was great to see how the funding has helped to make such a difference and to have been given the chance to be involved in helping to refurbish their facilities”.
The Screwfix Foundation, which launched in April 2013 donates much needed funding to help a variety of local projects throughout the UK, from repairing buildings and improving facilities in deprived areas, to decorating the homes of people living with sickness or disability.
It also works closely with two national charity partners, Barnardo’s children’s charity and Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as supporting smaller, local registered charities like The RHN.
The next round of funding will be awarded in early 2016. Relevant projects from across Putney are invited to apply online for a share of the funding at screwfixfoundation.com.
