Screwfix employees complete The Wolf Run Challenge for charity
Screwfix staff and supporters from stores in Kettering, Northampton, Daventry and Wellingborough are celebrating their achievement in completing the Northampton Wolf Run 10k off road course. Participants raised an impressive £750 for The Screwfix Foundation, a charity which supports projects the fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and facilities for those in need.
The 10k Wolf Run featured a number of challenging man-made obstacles, including a hill slide, A-frames and various other wet and muddy sections, all of which pushed the 17 Screwfix runners and the other participants to the limit.
Clare Taylor, Manager of the Kettering Screwfix store comments:”it was a great opportunity for people to overcome their fears and feel a sense of achievement and pride.
“Half way through the challenge one of our team took a fall but sheer determination encouraged them to continue and finish the race either by limping or being carried by other team members! I also think some of the team loved seeing the managers who took part plastered in mud! It was however for a worthy cause and a great opportunity to increase awareness for The Screwfix Foundation”.
The Screwfix Foundation launched last year and donates much needed funding to help a variety of projects, from repairing buildings and improving facilities in deprived areas, to decorating the homes of people living with sickness or disability.
John Mewett, trustee of The Screwfix Foundation said: “The Screwfix Foundation relies on the money raised by fundraising events across the country in and around our Screwfix stores. We’re delighted that colleagues and customers in Kettering, Northampton, Daventry and Wellingborough rallied behind the charity by doing this fantastic activity to raise money which we will then donate to our well deserving national and local charity partners.”
