Screwfix recognised for retail excellence

The team at the UK’s leading multi-channel trade supplier, Screwfix, is celebrating after being crowned “Speciality Retailer of the Year” at the 2014 Retail Week Awards.

The specialist retailer beat off stiff competition from a host of other well-known national brands to take home the prestigious industry award, and was acknowledged for its strong market performance, innovative multi-channel offering and dedication to its customers. The judges also praised the company’s approach in building its business around responding to its users’ unique needs, to offer a multi-channel model that has been carefully designed for tradesmen on the move.

John Mewett, marketing director at Screwfix, comments: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award. It’s another fantastic milestone for Screwfix and offers well-deserved recognition for our team’s hard work. At Screwfix, we are committed to meeting the specific needs of each of our customers, by offering industry-leading availability of product and multi-channel ordering facilities. This focus, along with the dedication and hard work of our team, has allowed us to enjoy year-onyear sales growth and increased customer loyalty.”

Screwfix was selected as the winner of the award after judges recognised its significant achievements over the last 12 months, including reaching a national network of 335 stores in just eight years, attracting over 1.5million unique users to Screwfix.com each week, its innovative live stock-check system and continuing to grow its already successful Click and Collect service.

Chris Brook-Carter, editor-in-chief, Retail Week, comments: “We would like to offer our congratulations to Screwfix. The company knows its customer and its whole model is constructed around convenience for that customer. It’s an exciting business that is very profitable and has raised the bar in responding to customer needs. It has incredible foresight in terms of how it has managed itself through the past few years and we look forward to seeing what comes next.”
