Screwfix wins the Pennies Outstanding Achievement Award

  • Omnichannel retailer wins Outstanding Achievement award chosen by panel of cross-industry leading judges from the Pennies’ family
  • Screwfix customers have raised more than £2.8m through Pennies on Screwfix.com over the last eight years
  • Money raised through Pennies helps The Screwfix Foundation support local charities-in-need across the UK

Screwfix has been awarded with the Pennies Outstanding Achievement award by a panel of industry leading judges.

The Award is in recognition of the incredible £2.8million raised by Screwfix’s wonderfully generous customers over the last eight years. Pennies gives customers the option to round up their purchase to the nearest pound and regularly “nudges” over 180,000 individuals to donate every week.

During the height of the national lockdown, Screwfix received over 250,000 individual donations on a weekly basis. Screwfix customers embraced supporting The Screwfix Foundation as passionately as the nation was embracing home improvement!

Screwfix CEO John Mewett: “We’re delighted to win the Pennies Outstanding Achievement award. I’d like to say a big thank you to our colleagues and customers for their continued support in fundraising for the Screwfix Foundation through these trying times. The generosity of our customers never ceases to amaze us, and we’re so grateful for their donations that enable The Screwfix Foundation to support charities-in-need across the UK.”

Pennies is partnered with some amazing businesses who have helped support the digital micro-donation movement and drive the momentum forward.  The Pennies Recognition Awards 2020 were announced at Pennies’ Virtual Autumn Event on the 11th November. It was a chance to highlight those partners who have gone above and beyond to make micro-donations matter this year. The winners were chosen by a panel of cross-industry leaders from retail, hospitality, pay tech and financial technology to recognise some outstanding partner brands, and individuals.
