Jack commented: “I am totally over the moon at winning Screwfix’s Trade Apprentice competition! The business bundle will enable me to continue with my studies and I hope to be a real ambassador to others, highlighting what a great job being in the trade is. Over the next 12 months I plan to complete my Level 3 qualification in Electrotechnical systems so that I have a good foundation of knowledge to start an NVQ! I’m also going to develop my CAD skills by going to night school courses. Winning Trade Apprentice has been amazing and I hope to work with Screwfix to make more students aware of careers in trades and going down the apprenticeship route!”
Now in its fouth year, the competition led by leading omni-channel retailer, Screwfix, aims to recognise and champion the best trade apprentices in the UK.
Caroline Welsh, Director of Brand and Marketing comments: “We believe supporting apprentices is crucial for the future of the trade. Not only does our Trade Apprentice Competition allow us to champion rising stars, but it also provides a valuable opportunity to learn from apprentices about how the wider industry can best support them in the future. The competition reaches hundreds of apprentices and trainees who are at the start of their careers and encourages them to strive for excellence and achieve the very highest professional standards.”
“We were impressed with Jack’s innovative ideas for the future of the industry, he is clearly an example of a motivated individual who will be an integral part of the electrical industry and a successful future tradesperson; I look forward to hearing about his future success!”
The Screwfix Trade Apprentice award will return in 2019.
