The Yard receives a helping hand from The Screwfix Foundation

The Yard, based in Edinburgh, is celebrating after being awarded £3,000 worth of funding from The Screwfix Foundation.

Christy Thomson from The Yard said: “We are very grateful to The Screwfix Foundation for donating these much-needed funds to support our charity.

“The Yard is an award-winning charity running adventure play services for disabled children, young people and their families in the east of Scotland. We offer disabled children and their siblings the chance to experience creative, adventurous indoor and outdoor play in a well-supported environment.

“The funding will be used to complete projects in our outdoor area allowing disabled children and their families to have fun, use their imagination and explore our natural play space. We’d like to thank everyone who was involved in the fundraising – it’s been a great help to us.”

Barrie Donaldson, The Trade Plus Manager of the Edinburgh Leith Screwfix store said: “We’re so happy that one of our local charities has been awarded funding by The Screwfix Foundation.

“Screwfix customers and colleagues are the driving force behind the Foundation, and without their generous donations, it wouldn’t be possible to support so many charities like The Yard.

“Over the past six years customers have been donating through sponsoring various staff fundraisers, in-store donation boxes and pennies online. It’s fantastic to see the money we have raised being invested back into such a worthwhile community project.”

It also works closely with two national charity partners, Barnardo’s children’s charity and Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as supporting smaller, local registered charities like The Yard.

Relevant projects from across Scotland are invited to apply online for a share of the funding at screwfixfoundation.com.
